Church and campus outreach lunch

Today we continued our orientation of Khon Kaen, Thai culture, and the Thai language which, by the way, seems impossible to learn. I do know now how to say good, bad, hello, goodbye, what's up, awesome, chicken and rice, and thank you. Forming sentances seems far off, but I'm sure will come quicker than I think since I will be with Thai students every day. We also had a cookout with about 30 or so church and CO staff members followed by a mini soccer tournament, badminton and basetball. As you can guess, our team looked like fools playing soccer and badminton with everyone, but regained our confidence with a dominant win in basketball. A few guys and I refreshed our body with some fresh mango, melon, and papaya on the street afterwards. The women we ordered from laughed at our poor Thai and our failed attempt to ask for a sample. The language will be a difficult obstacle, but is a huge way to show the students that we care about their culture and we care about connected with them in their own language. Tonight we are meeting with our ministry partners to talk about goals for the summer. Later tonight, around 115AM, there is a huge party at the campus outreach building to watch the soccer matchup between Manchester United and Bacelona. Supposedly, a pretty big deal. Not sure which team ill pick yet, guess its up to who my ministry partners like. Going to read for a bit before dinner. Love you team!
